This year we have made some improvements to our MCBA program that we think will encourage more students to read. Participation points are earned for each book read. Students still have to fulfill the minimum of reading 5 MCBA nominees, but then will receive credit for other books that they read at their reading level. It levels the playing field for 4th graders since most MCBA books are much higher than a 4th grade reading level. It will also allow students to explore authors that they discover through MCBA and pursue their own interests. We are excited about this change!
